programme icons

Please can someone advise me on where to find an illustrated index of common programme icons and there properties.Ive spent ages searching but no luck.
I am a bit nervous to just click away at them,the ones im searching for are those icons found in the programme files.Thanks.
 
Hi

Try this:

Right click on one of the Desktop icons, select Properties and then 'Change
icon'. In the 'Look for icons in this file' box type the following:

%systemroot%\system32\shell32.dll
