Hi everybody,

I work actually on a project, and I would like to convert powerpoint
file in a smil format (video stream). I already right a part of this
application to extract text and convert, but I don't know how to do to
extract pictures.

# Does someone know the type of atom that use Microsoft inside ppt
file to save picture ?

# Does someone have arlready wrote a procedure to manage powerpoint
file on a Linux distribution ?

ps : sorry for mistakes, but usually I speak french ! :-)

Thanks

Hi,
The PowerPoint file format is not documented and publicly available anymore,
so you won't get much help about it. I am assuming you have information
pertaining to the PowerPoint 97 file format which was available on MSDN much
earlier.

you can open powerpoint in OpenOffice.Org.

Some people think this helps with corrupted files. You should double check
for formatting adjustments.
I imagine you can write for presentations in linux better if you use
OpenOffice.Org since it is native to Unix/Linux.
