Program won't Install

Hello-

Whenever I run setup.exe, it tells me it is configuring the
Windows Installer, but then stops and the program shuts
down. I do not receive any pop up windows telling me what
has happened. I have tried running the setup.exe in Safe
Mode, but the same problem occurs.

have u updated to SP2? it includes a new version of windows installer

I tried the link, downloaded the file and set up the new
Windows Installer, but the same problem still exists.
 
Have you done a full scan of your system with an antivirus program with
current definitions? This is a long shot, but there are a few bugs out
there which intentionally shut down Microsoft Antispyware processes.

What happens if you go to a command prompt and do :

net start "windows installer

and hit Enter?

If that appears to succeed--what then happens if you retry the installation
immediately.
