Is the any program that will detect changes in the status of processes
(disabled, manual, automatic)? I'm looking for something that will
take a snapshot of the current configuration and compare it with a
later one.....

I assume you mean services.

Not snapshots for your viewing if that is what you ask for, but the
programs own use, for monitoring of your services (and windows startup
apps among other things) alerting you about changes: The free version
of Winpatrol <www.winpatrol.com>. Hmm, not sure if it reports changes
in a service status (disabled, manual, auto), i would guess so but not
sure, but it will at least report when a new services is added or an
existing removed. Don't use this one my self (but a shareware app,
Regrun3) so I cant say for sure right now. Install it, try it,
makes some changes your self to your services (status) and see what it
reports.

All the best

you can probably do something using the SC.EXE utility from the Microsoft
resource kit (NT-2000-XP)

Thank you!!!
Since I posted that question, I discovered that the new version of
System Safe Monitor, has a plugin that monitors services. I have not
tested it yet, however. The sc.exe utility sounds like exactly what
I wanted!
