My Microsoft Word icon under All Programs no longer loads the program when I
click on the icon. Under Properties, I can see that there is no longer a
target showing winword.exe. I cannot add it to the properties window
because the blank is grayed out. I made a shorcut on the desktop to
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\WINWORD.EXE and that works
correctly. How can I repair the icon properties in the All Programs list?

Just copy the shortcut to the All Programs list and allow it to over
write the existing entry. Another way of doing this is to copy the
short cut to Documents and Settings-All Users-Start Menu-Programs

See if you have a shortcut named Microsoft Word in

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Shortcut Bar\Office

Copy and paste that shortcut to your Start Menu.

The other option is to run the Repair feature in Word, this will restore all
'correct' shortcuts.
This can also be run from Add/Remove programs under Microsoft Office (this
will repair all installed Office apps).

Either way, the 'Repair' feature should do the trick.

In Word, the 'Repair' feature is under Help.
