We are in a small office (5 PCs) peer-to-peer workgroup
using Windows 2000 Professional. One PC user is using
an accounting program that she wants to share with the
other PCs.
She has created a "share" folder that the other 4 are
able to see but cannot access "her" accounting program in
order to see her work.

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

File sharing allows access to data files on the networked
computers, but not to execution of programs on the remote
computers. You must have the executable program on your
local machine in order to view the documents on the remote
PC. Otherwise you will need a remote control type program
such as PC Anywhere in order to execute the program on
your local PC. Even this doesn't really allow you to run
the program on the local machine, it only allows you to
take control of the remote PC's keyboard and mouse and
displays the remote PC's on-screen data on your local PC.

The accounting program needs to be installed on each
computer trying to access the files.

Thanks for your input. Good info.
The office personnel has installed the Accounting program
called "ComputerEase" on one of her peers PC and that peer
still can't view the data source.

Thanks again for your input.

Paul,
Thanks for your input.
We did that and still can't view the source data from the
main PC.
