There are several shopping or search programs on my
machine that will not allow the system to remove them
using software removal. Is there a way to remove
unwanted programs that were put on the machine throught
the net?

Tnx

You have a MAJOR VIRUS/TROJANS/SCUMWARE. Sounds like you have the ones created by CoolWebSearch, though they deny it. If you go to download.com look for the adware removal programs of "Ad-Aware" by Lavasoft ver 6 and "Spybots-Search and Destroy" ver 1.3. Install both programs, get the updates for each run either one first (doesn't matter which). On spybot delete all items marked in red on the results screen; and on ad-aware delete everything it indicates. Also do a search on the internet for a program called "cwshredder", download and run it too. (it doesn't install, just a separate exe program). after you run each program reboot before running the next one. When all three are complete increase the security on ie as high as you feel comfortable with. Some security personnel recommend using netscape or other browsers that aren't as likely to be victims of the scumware you have now. Don't worry, it's nothing you did, there must be thousands of web pages out there that have been affected by this same scumware and if you visit it, you get infected. Also make sure you are running the latest antivirus software(but I didn't have to say that did I?) Good Luck.
