While playing online game - it will minimize to task bar out of nowhere. I am
able to click taskbar icon and maximize but very annoying.
I have also noticed that periodically a 'program' will appear on taskbar
then disappear - no name- just square icon w/blank box in left side. Any help
appreciated.

If starting from a shortcut for the game, right click on the shortcut and
check under Properties what is set for Run (Normal window, Minimized, or
maximized).

Or check if there is a setting in the Options for the game, if to start
minimized.

It looks like the other application could be stealing focus, but I think
it's more likely that you need to get updated drivers for your graphics
card. Also run DXDIAG and see if that analysis shows any problems. Try
lowering graphics hardware acceleration through DXDiag, or through
Display Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot tab. If lowering
graphics hardware acceleration helps, you need updated drivers.

Checked game properites - 'Normal" was the selection.
Ran DXDIAG - no probs noted. I had just downloaded updated graphics drivers
about a month ago...I think something is running in background - game
minimized on me today, and I noticed that blank box on toolbar....Just not
sure how to find what it is...

Kelly might suggest the following to see what program could be stealing
focus. I think it could be a complaint from the graphics card, followed
by an error message as you're dropped out of the game. Try the graphics
acceleration slide; new drivers aren't always better, I'm afraid.

For a list of running programs:

Start/Run/Msinfo32/Software Environment/Running Tasks, Services and Startup
Programs.

For a list of running tasks: Start/Run/CMD/tasklist /svc
