I installed a program called VCDCut and when it was Finished I had a red
shield note that the XP Home SP 2 firewall had been turned off. I tried to
turn it back on, but failed.
I uninstalled VCDCut (with the program's own uninstaller and Your
Uninstaller) and the firewall was easy to turn back on. I checked the
installer with Avast! AV and it said that the .exe was clean.
During install, I had a message that Microsoft had not certified the
program, as you'd expect.
I did the same thing to make certain of the cause with the same result.
I sent a note to Microsoft and the first layer responder wasn't interested.
Just curious: has anyone heard of this sort of problem before? Do you
think it indicates a vulnerability?
Thanks for considering this. Wasn't sure where else to post to ask.
