Hello Paul,
I've Copied-and-Pasted one of my older batch files herein.
Every line between the +++++++++ are in my batch file.
File name = "Backup (ALL-2) Documents Drive E.bat"
NOTE that lines beginning with "::" are remarked-out and ignored by the
batch routine.
These additional comments are there for my future reference.
My User Name or Logon Profile is "Richard", so change this to suite your
needs.
Drive "F:\" is a seperate physical hard drive I use for backup purposes.
Change this too.
Please read-up on the command switches and use them according to your needs.
Create a new file on your desktop, right-click and create a new text file
(txt). Copy-And-Paste the below text. Then save the file renaming it to
somthing like "Backup.bat", use your basic text editor, maybe Notepad.
Once you get the hang of this, google search for Xxcopy. It's a free
download for personal use. It's basically "xcopy.exe" on steriods. Lots of
really nice features. The "Clone" switch is what I use. As time goes by
and you either deleate or rename files that are backed up via the batch
file. The Clone switch will remove files deleated or renamed from the
backup target folder. (REAL NICE)
Your batch file can be scheduled using Task Scheduler to auto run daily or
weekly if you'd like.
Hope this helps.....
Best regards,
Richard in Va.
