Program Group Autorestore

I have a couple of pieces of software that always seem to autorestore their program group and icons when I start them. It's not the software doing it, it's some setting in XP Professional. Any idea what registry key or other setting would tell XP not to autorestore these things? I have the general autorestore settings turned off at the moment, and that doesn't help

It would have to be the software re-creating its own icons. I know of no
such feature in Windows XP.
