Have you tried installing in compatibility mode?

From your post it appeared that you were trying to install older software
that ran on the old 16-bit operating system (DOS). If you are talking about
current software, then I was mislead by the error message you reported. It
is possible that the microsoft installer software is corrupt or needs to be
reregistered. Do you have a Windows cd or did your system come
pre-installed?

Try this: Start>Run and then type (notice the space after msiexec in each
entry):
msiexec /unregister [enter]
msiexec /regserver [enter]
Then post a reply here after you try installing again.

Hi,

Start/run cmd, click ok. Type:

copy %windir%/repair/autoexec.nt %windir%/system32

and hit <enter>, then retry loading the software. There should be a space
after "copy" and ".nt".
