My son installed AIM, it automatically start when the computer boots. How do I remove it from start up.

Thanks,
JE

you can either remove the file from the start menu which
should be under the "start up" heading if you are Windows
XP or goto Regedit.exe and find it in there, but be
carefully whilst deleting files from there because you
may end up in making your computer unable to run

Thanks...but when I go to start up in the start menu the only item listed is MS Office
Tried regedit.exe and no help there either. As I recall in Win 98 this was a simple procedure. Any other ideas

There might be a startup option within the AIM program menus.

There is a startup option in AIM; go to Setup>Sign On/Off> Uncheck the box
for "Start AIM when Windows starts".

If you're using Windows XP, this can be set different for each user; i.e.,
my kids both have AIM load up as soon as they log onto the internet under
their respective user accounts. I, on the other hand, don't use it & turned
it off for the 2 adult users here.

Also, for the kids accounts, I've unchecked the "Show AIM.com window at sign
on" selection at the bottom of this same page. The AIM.com window is kind
of like a homepage for AIM that pops up in the middle of your screen and my
kids found a little annoying.

Hope this helps!
