Profiling Scan Multi Pro problem

I trying to profile my Minolta Scan Multi Pro using one of Wolf Faust's
IT8 targets. This works fine in its mount in the 35mm holder both with
and without the Scanhancer. I am using 16 bit linear 16x multi sampling
and ICE on.

When I put the film unmounted in the Medium format holder I can't get
the scanner to complete the scan. Either I can set multi sampling or ICE
but not both together !

Obviously the target is smaller than MF film so I used thin black paper
around it initially to reduce risk of flare.

I wonder if this has done something to upset the scanner ( for want of a
technical expression!)

Now either with or without the paper masking, when the scan progress bar
gets to the end everything just stops.

The scanner busy light on the scanner keeps flashing but it is
unresponsive. The software has to be stopped with Windows task manager
and the scanner switched off and on to eject the film holder and try again.

Does anyone have any solutions to this? I would have thought there would
be a way around it without having to buy an MF sized target.

Thanks

A couple of things:

- You only need to profile the scanner once for both medium format and
35. It's the same electronics. Changing the film holder doesn't matter.

- Multisampling and ICE don't make a difference in calibration
profiling. I'm not even sure that they are engaged when profiling is done

- The quality gain in multisampling more than 4x is difficult to
distinguish, and increases scan time without a substantial additional
reduction in noise.
