SYMPTOMS
When I log off from my computer that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 I am
experiencing the problems outlined in Microsoft’s KB 837115.
1. It takes a long time to log off, and I receive the following message
during the process:
Saving settings….
2. Additionally, I received following event messages in the application
event log.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description:
Windows cannot unload your registry file. If you have a roaming profile,
your settings are not replicated. Contact your administrator.
DETAIL - Access is denied. , Build number ((2195)).
Course of Action
I have downloaded and installed Microsoft’s User Profile Hive Cleanup
Service (UPHClean) utility but the problem persists. Below are the contents
from the event log for this application.
The following handles opened in user profile hive ALPHA\username
(S-1-5-21-2000478354-484763869-854245398-1004) are preventing the profile
from unloading:
svchost.exe (484)
HKCU (0x65c)
0x7c326518 ADVAPI32!<no symbol>
0x7753f5cc TAPI32!internalRenameLocationW+0x1d8b
0x7753db9f TAPI32!internalRenameLocationW+0x35e
0x7753cc43 TAPI32!lineGetTranslateCapsW+0x13
It appears that these files are related to Mircosoft’s Telephony API Client
but I am at a loss as to how to proceed to resolve this issue. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
