Hey folks,
I'm running a Windows XP machine that I use for a lot of
different applications. However, it's main use is (of
course) a gaming machine for my spare time. It's a fairly
new machine, very nice innards. However, the services
that Windows XP runs in the background slow things down a
lot and do not allow me to run the system w/ all the 'eye
candy' turned on. IE 1600x1200 -32bit, details cranked,
etc. When I do this it lags. If I go in and shut down a
bunch of services that are complete bunk for gaming, the
system stabilizes and allows me to crank everything.
Is there a way in XP to setup profiles to not only
individualize the look and feel of Windows XP, but the
services that run in the background and the applications
that startup. I'd like to setup one profile for gaming
and just strip it bare for running apps. Any suggestions
would be appreciated.
Peace,
