On Login, I got
Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the
default profile for the system.

DETAIL - Incorrect function.

I had tried to redirect folders using registries for shell folders and User
Shell Folders.

The HOMEDRIVE, HOMEPATH, favorites have the right values, so do the temp
variables, and I do get into the expected home directory when I open DOS
Prompt window.

Furthermore my account is the owner for the folder u:\gg and all its
folders, files. naturally also have full access to them all.

The registry values in Shell Folders and User Shell Folders in the registry
is correct. However the USERPROFILE reverts back to the default
c:\documents and settings\gg
otherwise the account workds as expected
what did I miss?

Log on as another admin:

Computer Management -> System Tools -> Local Users and Groups -> Users

Change your profile path and copy the ntuser.dat file from your old profile directory to there.
