A friend decided to create a profile to stop unauthorised access to his
computer and set a password. He shut down and when attempting to start up
again he could not get his computer to start. He is adamant that his password
is accurately entered. I told him I would see if I could get a work around or
solution to solve his problem. PLEASE help.

Hi Geoff,

What do you mean by "could not get it to start"? Does he get to the password
prompt and it doesn't work? Or is it not getting that far? Is there any
message?

Incidentally, any user account password can be reset by logging on as
administrator.

Ok sounds simple but how do you logon as an administrator when there is only
one account to logon with??
I am having a similar problem.

Thank You

Hi,

In WindowsXP Pro, hit ctrl+alt+delete twice at the logon screen, then type
it into the Win2000-style logon screen.

In WindowsXP Home, you have to restart in Safe mode to access this account.

Once a regular user account is created on a system, this account is hidden
by default.

How to start in Safe mode:

Thanks for the advice. I am not sure of the exact details but will contact my
friend and get him to try the solution you offer.
Cheers

Geoffr
