I think I did something stupid. My PC wasnt working too
well so I installed XP on it. I decided to play around
with rights and all that kind of stuff so I password
protected my profile. I downloaded a ton of MP3s,
programs, ect. to test what I could and couldnt do,
nothing malicious just AIM, Winamp and the like. When I
tried to burn it the burner wasnt recognized by the PC
anymore as a burner and wouldnt even read data CDs. After
every other idea was exhausted I decided to reinstall XP
thinking it would leave everything the same. However it
created all new profiles and wont let me access the old
profile I created. I just get access denied. Anyone know
a way I can get around this?

Thanks in advance

someone at the XP Help boards passed this on to me and it
worked brilliantly:

If you're using Pro, press control-alt-delete twice and
log on as the administrator. Use Folder Options, View and
disable simple file sharing. If you're using Home, boot
to safe mode and log on as the administrator.

From the properties of the folders in question, click on
the security tab, advanced. owner tab. Take ownership of
the folder.
