When I log on with my Windows XP machine on our Windows 2003 Server, I get
the message 'Cannot load profile, profile may be damaged'

How do I solve this, or is there a way to repair the profile.

Thanks
Bart

Try this:

1. Reboot the machine.
2. Log on as Administrator.
3. Rename the damaged profile folder, e.g.
"c:\documents and settings\bart" to "c:\documents and
settings\bart.bad".
4. Log on as "Bart". A new profile folder will be created automatically.
5. Retrieve your personal files from "bart.bad" if required.

P.S. Cross-posting is a wonderful thing when used in moderation.
I wonder how a damaget profile relates to "networking" or to
"security".

Bart,

If its a roaming profile then do you get cannot log you on... creating a
temporary profile? If so, it will be destroyed when you log off

I wouldn't just log off when you attempt to login as sometimes it has a tendancy
to lock the profile

You can check the security settings on your profile (server & workstation ends)
& I am sure you have been denied ownership etc.

What I would do is reboot the workstation, use the server to navigate to your
local profile on that machine, check security settings (Bart - full control)...
If unsuccessful just rename the local profile. I always postfix '.old' to the
profile name. Check the server end too & re-create the profile if need be, copy
the settings if on the server side & login to the workstation again.

Remember, if you use MS Exchange for your e-mail then you will need to create a
profile, point to the correct MS Exchage server...
