Does anyone know of a product that works with PowerPoint
that allows PP to have a animated background, for example
splashes of color that move and the allow you to have
text be displayed on top of that animated background
(without haveing the animation pause)?

Thanks
Chris

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

If you are using PowerPoint 2000 or later (for Windows) you might already
be able to acheive this effect by using an animated GIF as your background.
For any given slide:

1) Format -> Background
2) In the dialog drop-down menu choose "Fill Effects"
3) In the Fill Effects dialog switch to the "Picture" tab
4) Click on "Select Picture" to choose your animated GIF and click OK
5) Click "Apply to All" or "Apply" depending on your specific need.

Since this is limited to animated GIF's, if you (or anyone else reading
this message) think that it's important that PowerPoint provide additional
support for animated backgrounds, don't forget to send your feedback (in
YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

Well...yes, I suppose it could be done, but I'm not sure if I even want to
go there!

But just thinking out loud here...you can ask for an animation to repeat
until the end of that particular slide...and if you placed that animation on
a master slide...and you then placed text atop it on each slide...you might
get the effect you were after.

Please be careful!!

I don't know how they do it, but my church puts animated backgrounds on all
the slides they use during the services.

Hi Chris,

Animated GIF files work well for this. I sometimes use
subtle ones for Title backgrounds.

Glenna
