Product Key

Just installed a new hard drive and loaded XP Pro SP2 OEM on the hard drive,
no problems. When I go to activate the program, it keeps telling me that i
am typing in the info wrong, yet i am putting in the info from the product
key sticker on the side of the computer. What do I do now ?

What does the sticker say on it as far as version/type?
 
thank you both for responding and helping. The xp o/s came installed on the
computer so I didn't have a xp cd. I was using the xp cd that came with my
wifes computer and the product key off my computer. I have now used her
product key off the cd which allows for up to 2 computers and it worked
fine. I guess the product key on my computer is useless since I don't have a
cd to go with it ?
 
the product key is for
installing.

however, there is a different set
of numbers for activation.

normally, activation can
occur successfully via
the internet.

but in some cases, when automatic
activations fails, people can use
a toll free number to india,
where ms cs will personally
give the activation code
for you to type and enter.
