If I was able to download the 64bit beta from the Microsoft web site,
how can I use it? The installer is asking for a product key. I do not
have one. I am pretty sure I was not given one. Am I missing something?

Because the e-mail you received with the download link from us included the
product key.

ok I signed up for a another key but doesn't seem to be valid. I have
quadruple checked my key entry to ensure correctness.

Would the beta I downloaded earlier this year not work with this new key ?

Correct - the trial we have available now will work with the trial keys we
issue now.
You should not be using beta versions now we have released the final
product.

ok sorry, but this final release is in the stores now and I would have

Ok... I have installed the latest downloadable Windows 64 using the
latest product key that I had to resignup for... so Windows XP 64 is up
and running nicely.

Thanks again Mike

I have also "activated" my Windows. I called up the Microsoft number and
painlessly and quickly traded numbers over the phone. I gave my
product key and was given a confirmation code to enter into the boxes in
return... FREE OF CHARGE.

Thank you Microsoft.
