Why would you ask that? If you bought them from a reputable source......

Factually That is a very offensive and accusatory question and personally I
think stupid. I recently bought a BMW from a BMW dealership but still wanted
the war the warranty in case something went wrong. These licenses cost a lot
of money and regardless of who seems revocable or not it is always good to
check for yourself besides taking somebody's word for. I would think
somebody as knowledgeable as you in the computer industry could understand
the purpose of this question. It is very upsetting to me that there are
still people like you out there that will just take somebody's word for
something regardless of the only it might cost them. You think if I tell
Microsoft hate I bought this from a company I thought was rentable please
don't find me that they will just listen I don't think so and I'm pretty
confident if you use your head for something more than a hat rack you would
agree. Please do not use this form to make comments that are not helpful

Offensive to whom? Accusatory to whom?
Only to those you bought it from. And you are the one accusing.

It should bother you that you would buy from someplace you do not trust
enough with something this important and then have to check afterwards. I
would think your resea4rch and effort would be better spent prior to the
purchase.

As for you other comments - uncalled for and unjustified. Anyone who knew
enough to buy a volume license should know how to check on it - as they
would have done the research before diving into something that expensive
that they did not understand fully.

Of course - that's just an opinion from someone who researches what they do
before doing it.

I purchased off a local business and they were switching over to UNIX. They
said they purchased a volume license from Microsoft on both products and
wanted to make some of their money back. They wiped all programs off the
current computers and is now running UNIX and openoffice

When I buy a VOL product the send me instructions on where to get the
license, and the location is a MS site and shows all my licenses, any
past + new ones.

What company did you purchase yours through?

Contact them and get the OL registration paperwork and the
link/user/password they were given - chances are that you're not really
holding a legit copy as they must have purchased X number of licenses
and they can't be split up.

Volume License versions of Microsoft software
are non-transferable to a different party. If you
purchased so-called Volume License from a third-
party, chances are the licenses are no longer valid.

Please contact a licensing specialist at (800) 426-9400

If that company isn't a Microsoft authorized reseller, than you don't
have a legitimate license. "Used" Volume Licenses cannot legitimately
be resold.

Contact Microsoft licensing for that question.
Have all the details available such as seller name and address, Product
Keys, media etc.
Licensing will be able to tell you if what you have is legitimate.
No one here has the necessary access to exactly what you have to make the
determination but from what you have stated, I am suspicious that the seller
had the right to sell it to you.

What is thay still "own" the V.L. but give my the righ to use it on a "blank"
omowt of pcs

If they don't own those PCs, they can't legitimately do that.

That may be possible but it is unlikely. Here are some links that will help
you and them figure it out.

http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/resources/volbrief.mspx

Note the part in this next link about volume licenses being an upgrade
license.

http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/partners/YourPC_do.mspx

In any case if they did transfer the license to you then they did not do it
properly. They should have given you the relevant information on how to
manage your keys and a web link to do so.
