If I re-format my hard drive and clean it up and then re-
load XP Home Edition, Would XP tell me This product key
has already been used?

Regards,

Brian

Only if you have used the key to install XP on another machine.
I have reinstalled my OS many times, without a whimper from Product
Activation.

Unless you've made significant hardware changes, it shoud activate over the
internet. If not, then its just a simple, relatively painless phone call to
activate.

Save your WPA.DBL file from your System32 folder. When you reinstall rename
the new wpa.dbl file to wpa.noact in safe mode (per
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_a.htm ) and put in your saved wpa.dbl
file. This will only work on the same computer with the same hardware
configuration so no one can pirate by doing this.

This will save a phone call.
