product key for office 2000 professional

i installed xp prof and somehow everything to do with office 2000 is gone

if i right click a user name, click properties, quantities of folders and files are shown (i have done nothing in xp yet; i hate it)

i tried to reinstall office, but the product key i have for the disks does not work

how can i find out the product key?

and will reinstallation allow me access to the hundreds of files i had?

i am the children's pastor at church and all of my work is on the pc
