I am using an excel sheet to produce short term construction
programmes. it has the activities duration and start and finish dates
to the left, and cells which are dated mon, tues, wed etc to the
right. I have formulas to colour up the cells to match the dates - so
I have a bar chart. I learnt how to do this by trial and error.

Somebody now wants me to produce the same level of information in a
list ie:

Monday 12.03.12
3No. Fitters New Pipework to Boiler Room
3No. Electricians making connections to Boiler Room
Tuesday 13.03.12
3No. Fitters New Pipework to Boiler Room
3No. Electricians making connections to Boiler Room
1No. Painter painting walls in Boiler Room
Wednesday 14.03.12
3No. Electricians making connections to Boiler Room
1No. Painter painting walls in Boiler Room

And so on. This would be for two weeks worth of work

All the information is available, but I do not know how to select and
paste tpo another tab. I no nothing about programming in excel so
please explain everything

Regards

Andrew

If it is a one-time event, it seems you could copy, go to a new sheet,
paste special and select the "transpose" choice.

this would have to be done once a week, but transposing the
information does not work as for instance act 1 New Pipework to
boilers is carried out on a monday and a tuesday, On the programme
this is represented by one description with two cells (mon Tues)
coloured in.

The programme looks like

cell 1 Cell 2 Cell
3 Cell4 Cell 5 Cell
6 Cell 7 Cell8 Cell 9 Cell 10 Cell 11
Id Description No. of men
Duration in days Start Finish Mon Tues
Wed Thurs Frid

12 13 14 15 16

01 New Pipework to bioler room 4No.
2d 12/03/12 13/03/12 fill
fill
02 Connections
3No. 1d 13/03/12
13/03/12 fill

What I need as well is

Monday 12th
4No. New Pipework to Boiler Room

Tues 13th
4No. New Pipework in Boiler Room
3No. Connections

Hopefully this is clearer

Sound more like you need a Gantt Chart.
