Producer preload hangs on dialup

When I dialup to the preload page, IE hangs after a few minutes. Here are
some facts:
- When hanging, IE progress bar is full, and no data is being transmitted
from the Internet.
- Task Manager shows system idle 99%
- Can toggle to other apps, but not back to IE
- Once this happens, if I right-click on the IE app button on the task bar,
it reinstates the preload and data is transmitted.
- Seems to work fine on LAN connection.

Any idea what could be causing this?

There is some issue with preload generally that a number of users have
experienced (not just dial up) -- I am not sure of the root cause though
loads of large graphic files (and perhaps .png files) are suspect. Maybe
the slower connection exacerbates the problem.

I just avoid the preload altogether -- as I find it annoying even when it
works as designed (but all my productions are designed for CD/Broadband
delivery).

I need a way to use the preload. I noticed that IE continues the preload
after I right click on the application icon on the bottom bar. Any ideas?

Does avoiding the preload apparently solve the problem?

Yes, it resolves that problem, but won't viewers experience a delayed media
playing?

Media playing and buffering is not affected by the preload -- what is
preloaded is the html and ppt object components.

Moving from slide to slide, template changes could experience some visual
delay while the components load. I have found that the delay caused by the
preload (which is long -- to the point of excessive) is worse than the
delay between slide changes at least for my productions but this is
definitely a YMMV situation.

Viewing Producer productions over dial up is a bit of a lost cause in my
opinion unless they are very carefully crafted to work well for low
bandwidth. That however makes the broadband bandwidth viewer's experience
not optimum.

AFAIK any delay in media starting because of buffering will still happen --
the preload feature is just for non media browser objects.
