Ihave taken all your advice which has been most helpfull, and now have managed
to creat movie in mm2, save to file in avi and using tmpegnc have converted
to m/peg2 and burnt to dvd using power producer which came with the computer .
The dvd plays on my ronin p215f but both video and audio seem to stop and
start as if in slow motion but not ,as if it jumps from frame to frame and
audio , the disc will play on the computer ok.
IT is a disc problem as it is the same on another player,is it the encoding
,or codecs, but i dont know about codecs, could it be the power producer
should i get another burn package like nero what does anyone suggest that may
help as i have spent days and nights trying in vein to sort this out.
Iwould much appreciate any assistance that you can give ,why would the dvd
jump aboutand stop and start?

Could be the media is not very good quality, try a different make ritek g04
are good. Could be the burn wasn't perfect, what settings did you use in
tmpg, see here for optimum settings
http://www.simplydv.co.uk/simplyBB/viewtopic.php?t=7704. Could be the disc
is incompatible with the player, check out www.dvdhelp.com.
I'm not familiar with power producer, what settings did you use in this? How
long/size in gb was the movie, some players balk at playing a full disc.

thanks graham, but i still dont fully under stand ,i will try the site you
suggest for tmpg. What is ritekg04,the movie was a short test only 250mb,with
regard power producer it is a cyberlink product and i just have to import the
m/peg set it for dvd set the speed 2 and burn there are no complicated
settings what do you think.

Ritek G04 is a dye used in many good brands of dvd, check the on-line sites
selling blank dvd and do a search for ritek g04 and it should come up.
How long does powerproducer take to make the dvd? Does it show what it is
doing when it is making the dvd? ie does it show up as multiplexing etc, if
so please list the steps it says it does and the time taken in total.

thanks graham, power producer takes about 30min to complete 1.rendering
20min.2. creat menu and chapters 8min .3. burn 6 min. for the 250mb test
movie. It says nothing about multiplexingand the dvd i am doing is no chapters
or menu as i have not got round to that untill i hsave the proceedure
correct, the dvd-r that i have used up to now have been memorex and
bulk-ppq,both same problem on playback .could it be my encoding with tmpenc
version 3 have i got the correct settigs?

just read part of the guide on tmpenc and more confused as it says not to
encode the audio with the video what do you think of this , and how do i
nthen add the audio to the film if i do it seperately ,any ideas could this
be my problem.

PowerProducer will encode the DV-AVI for you... missing out the TMPGEnc
step.

I use Memorex DVDs exclusively and have never burned a coaster yet... in
over 200+ DVDs.

You don't want to go from wmv to mpeg as wmv is highly compressed and
compressing again will not be good for quality.
Try encoding with power producer, as Cari says it does it, it may be easier
all in one go from that app.
Otherwise here are some optimal settings for tmpgenc.

Multiplexing is where it takes the seperate video and audio streams and
joins them together for your dvd.
