Can someone tell me where to find this pid? I need it to continue setting up
the Remote Desktop feature.

Sure - I am trying to set up the remote desktop feature so that I can have a
central desktop and access it from my laptop. The process seems difficult,
and first I must set up a network. The steps come to one that calls for the
Product Identification Number for the laptop.

What aI really need is a little coaching on the remote set up, but the MS
help material is vague on several points of it.

can you be more specific about what you are setting up and on what
specific OS?

Also, the desktop is running XP Professional, the laptops (two actually) are
XP Pro and also one that is XP Home edition.

Try Control Panel - System General (alternate WinKey+Pause).

The 20 character production identification code is reported as the
last line in the "Licensed to:" section

Good luck
