HI
I HAVE UPPLIED THE VISTA ADVISORY TOOL AND BEEN TOLD THAT MY PROCESSOR ITS
NOT ENOUGH I HAVE A 533MHZ, IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO APART FROM BUYING A
NEW LAPTOP ? '
WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I INSTALL VISTA ON MY ATUAL SYSTEM

Please, kill the caps! The "Caps Lock" key is located in between the Shift
and Tab keys on the left of your keyboard.

Are you confusing the bus speed of the CPU with the clock speed? The Pentium
M 730 is a 1.6 GHz part with a bus speed of 533 MHz. The 800 MHz
requirement is referring to the clock speed, not the bus speed.

the vista upgrade adivsor is correct. if you try to run vista on a 533Mhz
processor, it will run very slowly, but will still run (you will not get to
use aero glass, or flip 3d, though). I strongly discourage installing vista
on such a system. if you can't afford a new system, you'll get better
performance out of XP, and won't have to deal with the bugs in Vista Beta 2.
Start saving your money, and buy a new system with Vista pre-installed.

Sorry - Pentium M 730 is 1.6ghz.
the upgrade advisor apparently detects the reduced speed when running in low
power mode.
The performance rater in Vista should detect your processors performance
correctly. It will probably not be good enough to run aero glass, but it
should otherwise run reasonably well.

Correct. Later models of laptops will scale down the processor and bus
speed in order to save battery power when AC is disconnected. This is
usually controlled within the BIOS so if Vista is running like a dead dog
while on battery then consider adjusting the BIOS settings to improve
performance. Obviously the battery won't last as long so you'll want to
find a good balance or get another battery, heheh.

But Vista should run quite nicely on the M 730.

Athlon 64 processors (like mine) also scale down the speed while on battery,
but mine won't normally get below 1ghz, and can't run below 800mhz at all.
