processor upgrade

don

went from a amd 2800+ to a amd 3000+ but windows did not
recognize the new speed from 1.2mhz to 2.3. do i have to
reinstall xp in order for ths system to recognize the
new processor in system information? or will xp run at
the speed of the new processor despite what it says in
system info?
 
What does the BIOS say the CPU is running at, and what
does Control Panel->System say the CPU is running at?
