Processor speed

I feel so stupid asking this question but I will ask
anyway. I am using a company provided Toshiba Tecra 8100
laptop running win2k. I just want to know what processor
that's running on this damn thing. You would expect it to
show up on system properties but nope. Tried going through
the properties of all the links in device manager, looking
through control panel, hitting f2/f8/esc/del etc during
startup, searching through win2k help topics, searching
through knowledgebase but I just seem to find this
information anywhere :-( Is this so difficult to find on a
laptop? You can readily find it on a typical desktop.
Could someone help me out here?

Thanks,

Arun

Many laptops come with a small suite of special utilities for just this
sort of thing (Laptops often have some unusual hardware.)

Failing that, having done a search of the laptop's manual etc.) you
might download the handy little "Belarc Advisor" utility from (I think)
belarc.com. It's free, and gives you a nice report on what hardware and
installed software is present.

Open the registry and look at the following section.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProce
ssor\0

Tecra 8100 is developed for PIIIm 850-600MHz. You would run "winmsd" to
discover the speed.
