Can anyone tell me why my processor speed in task manager runs at 100%
when nothing is running except task manager?

It goes to 0-7% after ending rundll32.exe, then cidaemon.exe comes on
using 90+%
after a few minutes, I end that process, then it comes on again after
a few minutes. This continues time after time.

It has a 2.4 processor and 256meg/ram.

Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Thanks in advance for any input.

That is part of the Indexing service. You can turn it off by:

(from the Help and Support in your system - search on "indexing" !)
1.. Open Computer Management (Local).
2.. In the console tree, double-click Services and Applications.
3.. Double-click Indexing Service.
4.. Press the Stop or Pause button. Change it's startup status to Manual or Disabled if you dont want it to run at all
