Can anyone explain to me in laymen's terms the difference between the
Intel Pentium Dual Core & Intel Core 2 Duo ???

I was under the impression that they were both dual core chips.
Is that correct? If not please explain the difference between the 2
since i see a major difference in price.

AMD X2 is also a dual core and a better buy. They also have X3 three
core and X4 four core processors.

A core is just another processor packaged in the same chip.

While I say thanks for info on the AMD that was not the question. I
really just want to know the difference between the 2 I mentioned
above.

He didn't ask about AMD at all so why would you even bring it up?

If the original poster had specified Intel in the subject line, it
might have been a crime.
