Processor is at 100%

I don't know where else to turn. I have a Win2K Advanced Server running
as my Exch box. Task Manager shows anywhere from 97% to 100% utilization
most of the time. If I start using the system the processors actually drop
down to normal levels until I am through then they go right back up again.
There doesn't seem to be any degraded performance on the box. Mail is
flowing, apps open and I can admin the system but the procs are still 100%.
Sent a tlist file with info on all of the hoggiest processes running to
Microsoft's Exch helpdesk and was told it isn't an Exch thing but an OS
thing. I'll call MS again if necessary but am hoping to get some pointers
here before another $250 goes bye bye. All the initial troubleshooting
isn't coming up with anything to help me - Technet, PerfMon, command utils,
etc...

Thanks for any help -

What process is using 100%? Do you have any AV software running? Try
disabling it and see how the system runs....

There's actually three processes using up the system: svchost.exe -
DLLHOST.exe - and store.exe. I'm expecting to see the store process (it is
an Exch box after all) but the one that's taking most of the system (60% to
75%) is the svchost process. I can't find anything on this yet though I'm
still looking. I do have Trend Micro AV running. I'll disable the service
for a minute to see what happens. I will have to start it back up and let
it continue to run however. Like most of us, we do get a lot of mail with
viruses.

Yes - it is fully patched but this sure stinks of a virus. I patched
it up only recently though. I ran a virus check against the systems' C:
drive (none of the Exch DB's tho) and came up empty. I am finding some info
now that tells me it probably is infected. If I got infected before the
patch is run would it be fixed when the patch does get applied? Or are the
problem children of the world smart enough to protect their virus infections
from patches once they have infected a system?

What is recently? And a patch won't fix an infection. Also, antivirus can't
protect you against worms. Check the version of dllhost.exe, might be
suspicious.
