Hi! I am attracted to an adverts on a new mobo (ECS-elitegroup.taiwan made)
It is a microATX with AMD Duron 1.5G & audio & vga all build-in.
SIS 740 & embeded graphics in SIS 740. DDR 266, 10/100 LAN.

I intend it for home use with Win.98SE, OS/2 & Redhat 7.2 operating sys.
Has anyone ever had any experience on such similar mobo?

Thanks for your advise.

Shawn.

Sorry that I don't know the specifics however there could be some issues
with OS/2 (depending on the version you use) If you can get a hold of
ECS...the
hardware support is a lot better I've found. Even ECS has problems with some
LAN cards though.

I can't comment on you board, but you've got an vintage version of
Linux there, and in my experience, even the latest commercial distros
have problems with some part of all-in-one boards. In my case I have
to figure out how to build a kernel that has Realtek drivers for my
Asus microatx mobo.

If you can look at a PC that has this mobo in the store, burn yourself
a bootable copy of Knoppix (www.knoppix.org or www.linuxiso.org).
Bring it into the store and boot in while the salesman isn't looking.
Watch the messages and see what drivers don't load.

OS/2 ? You're on your won as far as video and NIC drivers. That OS was
going to save the world, about 14 years ago.
