Would anyone know of a small utility or desktop widget that shows the
current cpu usage (activity).

My thoughts are for something simple and small, like maybe a light icon in
the notification area that changes color based on cpu % activity.
Maybe...

Red= 75-100%
Yellow= 20-75%
green=0-20%

Maybe even allowing the user to configure the % range for each color.
Mostly, I would use this at boot to make sure everything has settled down
before I launch my big applications, but there are plenty of other times
something like this might become handy.

Just thinking out-loud....

CTRL+ALT+DEL; go to the Processes tab

Your red-yellow-green designation makes no sense. CPU usage could be -
and frequently is - at 99% for extended periods of time for perfectly
legitimate reasons.

Open Task Man ager, then Minimize it; its icon will show in the Sytem tray
and indicate your processor usage, with colors.

And Process Explorer (download from Microsoft) has the same facility,
but you might prefer the system tray icon. It has far more capability
than Task Manager, should you ever need it.

Thanks Steve,

I think I've seen MS Process Explorer around somewhere, MS TechNet or
something.

I'll give that a try...

Thanks again!
