Hi All
Just finished putting together a system using Asus A7N8X-E mobo. Have
an ATI
9600XT installed and am using Windows Me. I have run the install of
the NVidia NForce Drivers from the support CD that came with the mobo.

Currently under Device Manager all I can see is "Standard PCI Graphics
Adapter - VGA . In properties it says it is using a Windows VGA
driver. The 9600XT does not show up in device manager. I can see no
evidence of AGP drivers installed---am not sure what running the
driver install from support CD did with video (it installed audio
fine).
I have not run the installer from the ATI CD yet as the manual
cautions you to be sure you have the correct AGP driver installed for
the mobo chipset (which in this case is NVidia nForce2).
How can I determine if the correct AGP driver is installed?

In looking at the NVidia website, they have a more recent driver for
W98_Me (it is identified as 2.41 WHQL). The id of the vid driver
bundle that is on the support CD is 2.03 WHQL--- this is what
presumably installed when I ran the install from the CD.

Would you recommend installing this new driver? If so, what procedure
would you recommend (can't find any kind of procedure on NVidia site).

would appreciate advice.
Thanks
Art

For an Asus board I would stick with the latest drivers that ASUS provides
rather than the ones from the NVidia website. That said, if you installed
the drivers pack from the Asus Motherboard CD you have the AGP BUS driver
installed. This is listed under System Devices and will read something to
the effect of AGP to PCI Bridge. This is what the ATI instructions are
refering to. You now need to install the AGP Video Driver from the ATI cd
or downloaded from the ATI support site.
