Problems writing to CD-RW

This is probably a dumb question, but I cannot figure out why I'm having
trouble writing files to a CD-RW. I backed up some files from a program and
XP sent them to the temporary place for holding files ready to be written to
a CD. When there is no CD in the drive, I can see the files in Windows
Explorer and they say "Ready to be written to CD." However, when I put a
CD-RW in the drive, those files disappear and it just shows me a blank
screen. I cannot seem to figure out how to get those files to write on the
CD-RW. I have even re-formatted the CD and everything checks out with it.
Can anybody help? Thanks!!

You may also want to consider 3rd party software for burning CD and DVDs.
They generally have better encoders and more flexibility than the built in
recorder in Windows XP.

Nero and Roxio products are amung the most popular.

Thanks everyone...have tried misc. solutions and now tried to copy a file to
the CD drive and got the message "Selected disk drive is not in use" so maybe
I have more problems than I thought...???

you might try going to START RUN SERVICES.MSC and enable the imap cd burning
option...

I hope this works for you...
