Problems with Word 2003 since lastest security Update

I am running XP Home SP2.0, oFFICE 2003. When I loaded the lastest security
updates on 4/13, I could not save doc's anymore. I did a restore and then
it all worked, reloaded the updates and the same problem occures. I did a
Cnt/ alt/del and saw a program called verdsid.exe running, so I ended that
process. Now I can save docs again. What can we do to fix this?
