Matt

I am having persistent problems with windows. For one I
can not stop popups and I have 3 popup programs running.
Windows takes for ever to load when I start my computer
and will not shut down unless I shut it down from the
tower itself. My question is,can I reload windows xp
without it screwing something up and will it correct the
problem or is there something else I can do? Thanks for
anyones help and feel free to email me at (e-mail address removed)

1. To prevent messenger spam pop-ups (which appear even when you are not on
the Internet), activate Internet Connection Firewall. If you have adware on
your computer, the only thing you can do to prevent advertising pop-ups is
to uninstall the adware (which may require uninstalling the application that
delivered the adware.) This may make your system unstable.

2. The first step in diagnosing a slow startup is to investigate what starts
with windows.

3. For help in diagnosing shutdown problems:

I suggest using Spybot instead of Ad-aware for once if you would like to really stop all adware/spyware. It is available on most freeware board

Also, add the pop-up blocker to the google search engine and pop-ups are gone forever.

You may also like to take a deep look into the task manager to see what is running there...probably some backgrouns stuff you should try to disable/
