Problems with Windows updates

Last night I decided to download and install some
updates, including the service pack and the security
update which refers to the blaster worm. I finally got
the service pack in (took forever) then couldn't get the
computer to reboot (after 5 or 6 tries) to do the rest.
Finally got it going again, now it seems to reboot
quicker (yaaaaay) but keeps locking up to where I have to
pull the power cord and start over. It does this
frequently in any program, including trying to work with
windows update. This morning I gave up in frustration
and downloaded and installed ONLY the security update
referring to the blaster worm. It was working FINE
before I downloaded and installed the service pack, so
what should I do NOW?????

Thanks

Kay

I and thousands of others have similiar problems. I
haven't been able to track down the exact change made by
the updates that caused similiar problems in so many
computers. If I could figure it out I would be a rich man.
All I can tell you is that if you have your keyboard and
mouse plugged into serial ports(a little round connection
with pins) then you will have to unplug one or the other
and plug them into your USB(a thin flat connector) ports.
Even if you have to get a USB trippler or unplug a camera
or such. This fixed the problem for me but now I have a
dead serial port connection and one less USB port. This is
the third fix that one of their programming gurus has
screwed up. They should fire the entire team and hire
someone new. good luck.
