I seemed to be having problems with missing components in
XP home, so following the procedure in the knowledgebase
I have attempted an in-place reinstallation of XP.

The installation seemed to be going well and had about 8
minutes left, rebooted, reset the time counter to 39
minutes and is cycling. It runs through the sequence down
to about 4-6 minutes and then reboots and starts over.

Help please!

Not something simple, but easily overlooked, like automatically booting
the PC from the CD and restarting setup from the beginning on every
reboot. Try removing the XP CD from the drive when the computer is timing
down to the reboot. Wait until prompted by setup to re-insert the XP CD
in the drive after the reboot.
