I have a user who about 1 a week calls the helpdesk because her mouse is not
working. We have her unplug and re-plug back in and works, and then about a
week later the same thing. We have changed out the mouse now 3 times, and
still the same problem. We have had her plug into different usb ports and
still the same thing. I think we have even uninstalled all the USB ports and
re-installed.

Any ideas or suggestions?

1. Give her a PS2 mouse, or
2. Give her a cordless mouse.

Faulty plugs on the motherboard? Used the mice on other PC's?

Stick in a USB-CARD and connected the items there?

Try disabling the computer from turning off the USB ports to save power.
It's in Device manager, USB section Properties, Power management tab.

Going from an old memory you just triggered....I oncec had to do that while
in Safe Mode...otherwise the power management options didn't show up for me.
