My computer wouldn't upgrade movie maker to movie maker
2 from the microsoft download.
I followed the knowlege based solution article posted to
specifically get around this problem, but when I double
click the moviemkr.exe as it says in the final step, it
gives me a big red ERROR message.
Anyone, with info., please help.

When I click on the movie maker program file...it still
reads Windows Movie Maker, not Windows Movie Maker 2 in
the heading.

THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Open your MovieMaker1 or 2 and click on help go to the windows moviemaker web site and download it yourself and save it to your desktop. Close all programs turn off your antivirus software and try installing, other than through Microsoft Updates. I have just completed this to try and correct a capture problem with Pinnacle DC10+ analog capture card, but it didn't work as usual, otherwise everything else is OK.

Yeah -- I had the same problem. I didn't do much about it (in part because I
didn't know if there was anything I could do about it in the first place).

In the end, I simply went to

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsXP/moviemaker/downloads/moviemaker2.asp

and did the "manual download" thing.

Download instructions are at the very bottom of the screen.
