Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble getting the Storage
Kingdom EasyCardReader (dabs.com value) 6 in 1 memory card reader
working with Windows 2000. I've tried using the installer, which seems
to work fine, not showing any error messages, but when I reboot,
nothing, none of the icons its supposed to show in Windows Explorer.
I've tried searching for new hardware, and although Windows finds the
new hardware, when I tell it to search the CD-Rom for the driver, it
ignores it and wants to install it as "USB Device". When I initially
plugged it in, it did display an error message, but errr, I forgot to
write it down (doh, something about "hardware profiles" possibly, but
I can't be sure), I assumed I just needed to run the installer and
everything would be sorted. Now this message is no longer displayed.

I was wondering if it could be possibly down to other USB I am/was
using, I did have a phone SIM card reader in the same port, I'm also
using a WACOM Graphire 2 graphics tablet in the other USB port. Can
USB devices clash?

Anyone else had trouble with this beast?

Yes I have, several.
1) With Win98 and Win2k you have to install the software "before" you
plug it in for the first time (RTFM, you need to run setup.exe because
the driver loads the reader's firmware, without it Win98 and Win2k
detect the reader incorrectly)

2) USB1.1 versions of Carry Computer's products
http://www.carry.com.tw/Product/category.jsp?grp=4
do not work correctly on USB2.0 ports.

In Win2k go to CP/System/Hardware/Hardware Wizard, Uninstall/Unplug a
device, tick Display Hidden devices and remove any suspicious looking
Removable Drive or USB devices. Then run the setup.exe from the CD,
reboot and plug the reader in.
