Hopefully someone can help....I'm at my wit's end!

I have three computers networked together in one room. One of the computers
is for my kids to use (10 & under), so, I've gone ahead and added registry
mechanic and spyware doctor to it specifically, because I KNOW they are prone
to clicking on things they shouldn't sometimes, not knowing any better.

So far the applications I've mentioned have done their job and stopped any
viruses, spywares, etc....HOWEVER..!!

Somehow something got through and I have my PC TOOLS software identifying a
virus, saying it's getting rid of it, and it just kleeps coming back.

I have things like my browser going to "about blank" and numerous other pop
up's advertising other "cleaners" top get rid of the problem...my experience
from a few years back tells me these are probably the companies that zapped
me!

So ho do I get rid of it...?? Any ideas..?? Any help would be much
appreiciated!

Hello . We can help . The malware isn't coming back , you and your software
just haven't removed it correctly . Perform the "Check for and eliminate
virus/spyware" instructions on my web-site
http://pandaman.my.contact.bg

Note , do the cleaning without any internet connection and without any
networks . Do not establish network connections until you clean fully .

After you clean , please visit my web-site again and learn yourself . Visit

If you are using any version of Sun Java that is prior to JRE Version 5.0,
then you are strongly urged to remove any/all versions that are prior to JRE
Version 5.0. There are vulnerabilities in them and they are actively being exploited.
It is possible that is how you got infected with malware.

Therefore, it is highly suggested that if there are any prior versions of Sun Java
to Version 5 on the PC that they be removed and Sun Java JRE Version 5.0 Update 6
be installed ASAP.

Simple check, look under...
C:\Program Files\Java

The only folder under that folder should be the latest version...

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06

http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

For non-viral malware...

Please download, install and update the following software...

* Ad-aware SE v1.06
http://www.lavasoft.de/
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
http://www.lavasoft.de/ms/index.htm

* SpyBot Search and Destroy v1.4
http://security.kolla.de/
http://www.safer-networking.org/microsoft.en.html

* SuperAntiSpyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html

After the software is updated, I suggest scanning the system in Safe Mode.

I also suggest downloading, installing and updating BHODemon for any Browser Helper
Objects
that may be on the PC.

* BHODemon

For viral malware...

* Download MULTI_AV.EXE from the URL --
http://www.ik-cs.com/programs/virtools/Multi_AV.exe

To use this utility, perform the following...
Execute; Multi_AV.exe { Note: You must use the default folder C:\AV-CLS }
Choose; Unzip
Choose; Close

Execute; C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT
{ or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS }

NOTE: You may have to disable your software FireWall or allow WGET.EXE to go through your
FireWall to allow it to download the needed AV vendor related files.

C:\AV-CLS\StartMenu.BAT -- { or Double-click on 'Start Menu' in C:\AV-CLS}
This will bring up the initial menu of choices and should be executed in Normal Mode.
This way all the components can be downloaded from each AV vendor's web site.
The choices are; Sophos, Trend, McAfee, Kaspersky, Exit this menu and Reboot the PC.

You can choose to go to each menu item and just download the needed files or you can
download the files and perform a scan in Normal Mode. Once you have downloaded the files
needed for each scanner you want to use, you should reboot the PC into Safe Mode [F8 key
during boot] and re-run the menu again and choose which scanner you want to run in Safe
Mode. It is suggested to run the scanners in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

When the menu is displayed hitting 'H' or 'h' will bring up a more comprehensive PDF help
file. http://www.ik-cs.com/multi-av.htm

David,

I just wanted to let you know that since I posted this question in the
middle of the night last night, I dug back in some of your helpful
responses...(I should have done that sooner, but I'm still fairly new to this
news group thing) ...and found where some one had a similar problem...(back
on 04/25/06 I believe..??).

At any rate, for some reason the person you were trying to help didn't seem
to have much luck with your suggestion (it involved downloading a couple of
programs the last one being a rather lengthly Macafee scanner thingy)
HOWEVER....I followed your suggestions and, well, even a blind squirrel must
be able to find a nut once in a while, because presto chango..! IT
WORKED>>!!!!!!!

I cannot thank you enough for the help you gave me! I've done the scan in
the "normal" mode, and am in the process of doing it in the "safe mode" as
you suggested, but I like I said, it seemed to work the 1st time, I just
wanted to be sure.

So, once again, MANY thanks and let me also say, after reading through the
many helpful responses you've given for some time now, your help goes a LONG
way to restoring my faith that a spirit of goodwill can, and does still exist
in today's rocket paced world.

Sorry if that got to drippy sounding, but hey, you made my day or night..or
morning..take your pick.

Have a good one!
