Problem 1.I bought a fan with a plug with one end a male
and one end a female (similar to how Christmas tree lights
plugs work). I unplugged my CD-ROm drive and plugged the
fan in and the attatched the power for the CD-Rom to the
fan plug. The CD-ROM and fan had power but my system
would not recognize the CD-ROM. I took the fam off and
everything returned to normal. Can someone explain this to
me?

Problem 2. After incident above, I could not get any
sound out of my games or my MP3 files. The system would
tell me that it did not support that file type? However,
my I have a TV video card and could hear my TV stations
through my sound card. How is this possible?

Thank you very much to those that respond.

This sound like your power supply can not provide enough power when you
connect the fan power to the CD Rom power connector.

Now, you may have to remove the CD Rom and the sound card from Device
Manager and let Windows XP re-install them after the reboot.
