Problems With Setting monitor colour and depth after formatting

Hi,
I have just formatted my mums computer and i cannot set the right colour
depth on the screen.
I can only choose 1 depth and only 8bit coulor depth
Or i can set a really big size and the right coulor depth.Confusing right.
I also cannot download drivers.
I think its cause when i formatted it its put my monitor, a dell 17" E773P,
as default monitor although i dont know how to correct that...
Please help if you can.

Download Everest Home Edition free from http://www.lavalys.com/ . It will
tell you which video card you have and will usually give you a link to where
you can get the drivers.
